Travel Destinations: Is it 'gay' or just fun?

March03_0050

Someone recently asked on the DN travel forum:
=============
I'm looking for a warm, sunny vacation spot... Puerto Vallarta is great but the water is not, so if anyone has any suggestions as to where to go for a good gay time and nice weather and great water - let me know!!!
=============

Try looking through the past few weeks of threads on the DudesNudes travel forum or look at previous entries in the blog.
Also there are Yahoo groups for gay travel. Homo-A-Go-Go has lots of info; basically it's one guy sending a daily gay travel report and news), but it has a lot of great info (search the past ones at the group's home page).http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Homo-A-Go- Go/

Your destination depends on when, how long and how farm and how much you can spend.Hawaii (Honolulu for starters, and the outer islands for dessert)Palm Springs (CA) or Phoenix (Arizona) -- a lot warmer than Calgary but not near the ocean, Florida (Ft Lauderdale)Cancun (not too gay - but some great snorkelling and visiting Mayan ruins)Caribbean Islands Gran Canaria (Playa del Ingles - Maspalomas) - fairly warm in Dec - Jan (but water is not very warm). Brazil ArgentinaEven if it's winter, try an indoor gay vacation (Montreal, Vancouver (too close to home, eh?) or New York / Toronto could work for that, San Francisco, New Orleans in North America, or winter fares to Europe are cheap enough -- Paris, Berlin or Barcelona, Prague or Budapest. I got a cheap flight to Frankfurt on United/Lufthansa for March and am flying from there on cheaper air carrier to Gran Canaria.

Someone else made an important comment during the discussion:
=============
I'm curious. What is a gay travel destination? I usually find a destination that has activities in which I want to partake. I can usually find a gay club or nude beach or something in the area.
=============

I completely forgot about Sydney (and the rest of Australia)... how could I have left The Land of Oz out of the list!

I agree -- to a certain extent - with person's comment about what is a 'gay travel destination."

Some of the best 'gay' vacations I 've had have been far away from gay urban or so-called gay resort areas. However, I think the notion of gay travel implies there being a large(r) number or proportion of male (and LGBT) couples and singles gathered in one place. The social element is paramount for some gays -- go figure (LOL).

It also has something to do with the diversity-friendly ambiance, the number of gay-oriented venues (bars, clubs, accommodations, unbridled cruising spots), and the destination's 'queer fashionable' or gay-trendy status. I love it best when there is a travel destination where you can get to all those things/places just mentioned (or reasonably close), but you can also be close to nature - both for outdoor recreation and nudism/naturist activities.

Flickr Dletd U? How to avoid an Unsafe Flickr account

I can think of a few things that might help protect your Flickr account - I can't really say this advice will keep your account from being deleted, but you know you don't want to have to keep creating a new account again. You say you won't come back to Flickr if you are deleted again, but you KNOW you probably will. So it's worth a try.

I think Flickr has a method to its madness. They don't just delete at random - -however, they may find members who are violating (or borderline) the Yahoo/Flickr Terms of Service (these are the Flickr 'rules' in very fineprint). They probably come across 'unsafe' Flickr members at random and then put you on their "watch" list. Then if you don't change or have another violation, then you might get deleted. Also, sometimes people (who don't like seeing your photos) make 'flag' a picture and these violations are kept in your Flickr (and Yahoo) records without you even knowing about them.
So how do you need to behave to be a Flickr membr in good standing?
The basic Flickr principles are probably something like this -- A) Follow the basic procedures. Know the rules. (Explained below). B) Do no harm - in fact, actively show you are trying to prevent any harm. (Explained below) C) Act like a real person who USES Flickr - not just a 'porn ghost.'
Each of the above principles is explained below and some suggestions on how to actually put the principle into practice are given.

A) 1) Have you set your Safety Level to 'restricted' and Content Filters to "Safe Search: off" ? 2) Check your account staus. What does Flickr say about your account? Safe, Moderate, Unsafe. You can see Your Account page info (including the settings in Privacy and Permissions I mentioned above) by clicking your Flickr id at the top of any page. The one that says "Signed in as _____". There are 4 tab pages.
At the top of "Your Account" page, it tells you how Flickr staff rate your account. If you have 'Moderate' or 'Unsafe', you'd better read the "What does that mean?" information soon.

B) Do no harm: Don't put pornographic or explicit sexual photos where minors (or just anybody COULD find them). It's not so important IF they HAVE found them , but whether they COULD. Your adult content photos should NOT be where they 'could' possibly be seen by underage minors (under 18) or other people who might object/complain. So , the first thing you should do is to make all and any of your pictures that have nudity or are explicitly sexual private (Of course, you can make visible on to friends -- like me).
Another thing is to NOT add your photos to any NON-private group pool of photographs. Some +18 adult Flickr groups are public and their photos pools are also public. Anyone can join (automatically) or look at their collection of group photos (pool) without restriction. Even if your photos are private, when you add them to a public group, they become viewable to all the members of that group. It's safest to join a private (invitaion only group) or a public group that has a MEMBERS-ONLY photo pool.

C) Flickr wants happy customers. If you are a NON-paying (free) member, you are not making them happy -- espeically if you pose a risk to other paying members. Their first priority is to make their paying customers free from worry and bother. However, non-paying members do add value to their company by bringing in people, who might or do join Flickr. So Flickr actually needs its non-paying members too. That's why they do try to bend over backwards to get people to 'restrict' their use of pornographic content. Flickr does not ban it unilaterally. (NOTE: A few countries have separate and stricter Internet access and search censorship rules - so Flickr must act according to those countries' rules: Germany, Singapore, Korean, for example).

So that means you have to act like a person who would someday (might) buy a Flickr pro account. Think about it from their corporate perspective a minute. I've heard a lot of deleted (and ultimately re-signed on Flickr member complain about Flickr), but if they hated it so much then why keep on coming back. The fact is Flickr does have a lot of offer (even as a free service - with the 200 photo limit), and being able to see so many great (and sexually provocative) pics is certainly one of them.

Flickr is a (hopefully for them) profit-making business owned by Yahoo. They boast about being the world's most popular photo-sharing site, but there IS strong competition. Remember that the Internet means business (making money). They want their users to be people who might actually 'buy' their services. So if you don't want to pay the $29.99 a year to be a 'pro' Flickr member, then at least try to act like one.

Here are some points to consider doing:

a) If all you have are net porn and no real photographs of your own, you'll look simply like a 'porn ghost'. Just a virtual identity only on Flickr to view and display Net porn. You should upload some real digitial photos (from a real digital camera) - if possible. These should not be pornographic (although they could be if properly restricted to 'private - friends only"), but some of them should be regular snapshots of travel or events in your city. These should be public.

b) Have a 'real' identity. Add something to your profile - (you don't have to reveal anything that you want to remain private). Just write a few sentences. If you can fill in some other info in your profile (you can be as specific or general (vague) as you wish. Join some public groups that are NOT just adult sex or porn photos.

c) Contribute as a Flickr community member. Comment on people's photos (and not just porn ones only), making favorites is OK, but how will you keep up with 100s or 1000s of favorites, anyway. Be selective. Participate in groups (and not just porn ones only), write testimonials (and maybe get some too). This way you appear to somebody who is using Flickr as it was intended so your review by Flickr staff will (likely) reflect this.

d) Make contacts responsibly. If it's not clear what a person's age is and you suspect that a Flickr member might be 1) under age 2) new to Flickr 3) not interested in your net porn pix, then by all means, do not make them a Flickr friend (who can see you 'private' pics).

You can first make then a contact (they cannot see your 'privates') until you know more about them. Or you can send them a Flickrmail and ask them make their age clear on their profile. This is probably where I make my own mistakes.. I usually check a person's profile to see if they state their age or make it clear that they are interested in photos with sexual content. For example, I look to see if their lists of other contacts (many times I recognize some of their friends), and I look at their photo content (if I've already been make a Friend by them first) or their lists of public groups (private groups are NOT visible to others). If they are brand new to Flickr - usually means no photos of their own, very few contacts and few groups, then I ask (politely) or just say it's not clear if they are 18 or over from their profile so I can't add them as a friend yet. Normally, it IS clearly stated or obvious. So I don't have to actually write them very often. But -- as I said -- I've probably made some mistakes - -although no one can fault you if you have 'friended' a person who has not been truthful about his/her age.

D) I suspect there may be other 'rules' or also other ways that Flickr 'flags' people as unsafe. For example, how many downloads of pictures you do may count. How many 'restricted' pics you upload (I have about 40,000 so it must not count that much against you). How many 'restricted' pics you make favorites? How often you change your Buddy Icon (and what it looks like may matter - especially if it's porno too).. How may complaints are received about your photos? This would definitely be a problem.

There are more hints inside Flickr, too. Check out the Flickr FAQ and "What does this mean?" (safe/unsafe account) for more details.

----------- END OF THE Flickr ADVICE --------------
Hey.. this was long - but I hope it will help. It helped me to have to try to get this all down in one place. I needed to get this written down so I just took the time to do it now. But I'll post it on my blog and refer people to it from my profile.
Hope you can get to be 'safe'....There's more to playing 'safe' than just wearing a condom (LOL).

Freeballing and sagging - hot look!

I find that it's sometimes easier to find out whether somebody's freeballing bywhat happens at the back of his pants - instead of the front. Not that the front is not a lot more interesting, but I guess I'm an ass man - at least in part (LOL).
I certainly appreciate it when a hefty lump (VPL) shifts in a guy's crotch -during movement - walking, jumping, skating, or when he's partially aroused. But there are probably more times I can recognize another freeballer byseeing him show some ass or his ass crack -which can be very hot, too!

T520050831103728720

Guys who like boardshorts, of course, (extreme sagger dude here), but you're more likely to notice them UP FRONT .. especially when you see well below the navel or when the pubes are showing.

Dane169

and skaters sometimes seem to be more likely to be freeballers than just your average guy.
Someday I'm going to set up a booth on Waikiki Beach (or someplace like it) and ask guys, "Do you freeball?" (or what kind of underwear they like to take off lol) - and get them to let me take their photos.

Wouldn't that be a great summer job? -- Maybe as a advertising campaign for some men's products, etc....

I live in a conservative area, so cover up my crack and unzipped shorts with a shirt. I love wearing shorts and pants that show the outline of my cut cock.

I love to wear jeans, shorts - anything low so that crack shows in back and they are obviously low in front. In the summer I love to wear an old pair of cut offs in the yard without a shirt. Depending on who's around, I let them go really low, exposing anywhere from 2" of crack to half my ass to OOPS, they just fell to my ankles.
I also love to see other guys who do the same.

Warm weather (esp tropcial climates) and the local mores bring out the best in young men (older ones too). Unfortunately the authorities have started banning sagging pants and showing underwear in some communities.

Hawaii always has more than fits air share of saggers - so it's not uncommon to get
quite a few glimpses of 'sags' to this degree - front and back. I always think later -- "why don't I have my camera' - but then I think better of it.. I'd look like a tourist snapping away at these guys (surfers, sk8ers, college guys on vacation, etc).
I need a good cover/excuse -- maybe I'll try a T-shirt and a proper -ooking badge that says: 'Official Flickr Photographer' or "VPL Staff Photographer". I wonder how many people on the street know what VPL stands for. [grin]

Here is the low sagging guy above seen from behind.

Not shirtless but he's freeballing by all appearances.... and making it obvious.
I wonder how many of his buddies are too.

Maybe it's an initiation rite into their Freeballer's Circle.

Of course, there are times when you just have to be direct in your approach
to find out whether a buddy or new acquaintance is freeballing.

If he's coy about it, just take matters into your own hands - you'll never know

what might come UP!

And then there are the ones where there is never any doubt. Love to
guys wearing overalls and nothing else. That garment is so convenient,
comfortable and makes everyTHING so accessible and often times visible.

Woooooffff!

I grew up showing my cock to anyone that wanted to look down my pants -- even as a teen, I freeballed.

Finding Cheap Air Fares (to Europe and overseas)

Timing is everything when it comes to cheap tickets. Many of the airlines have pre-season sales (months in advance) so you have to check major and minor airlines (look for the Special or Deals) - obviously not just North American based airlines but European and sometimes South Asian, Far East, Middle East, and other air carriers.

[Most of what I write applies to tickets for short-term tourist visits to Europe. Things may be different for buying tickets for long-term stays ( 3-6-9 month or 1 year.) ]

Likewise, there is also the possibility of 'last-minute offers' and a quite a few sites that seem to offer them, but personally, I can't live with the uncertainty when I know I have to be somewhere and when other things depends on having a set schedule. By the way, many airfare sites have trip search options that allow for Flexible Dates - which can sometimes be a quite a savings. For examplel, USAirways (dot com) has flights to Madrid, but when you search be sure to select their Low-Fare search option (meaning flexible dates within 3 days of departure and return). You can keep 'moving' the period of travel to see if there are cheaper fares - earlier and later.

Another important strategy on most airflight searches is to look for alternate departure or arrival airports - it's typically a small check box. Large cities may have several airports - although you need to know how far these airports are apart or from where you'll be coming. Cheaper airlines sometimes are cheap because they are using airports in locations or more distant cities from main metropolitan areas. New York is special since it has 3 major international airports (JFK, Laguardia (LGA), Newark (EWR). Some international airlines use all 3, but some only have flights to one of these airports. Same is true for a few more US cities and also some European cities (although the regional airports are harder to reach), for example San Francisco is served by 3 regional airports ( SFO, San Jose, Oakland).

Oddly enough, it may sometimes be cheaper to depart from a city other than the airlines's main 'hub' airport. Not always true, but you'd be surprised that a ticket from JFK to Madrid might route you IAD (Wash DC) and PHL (Philadelphia) but might end up being cheaper (and of course longer), than a direct flight from PHL to MAD.

Don't rule out Orbitz.com because kayak.com most often just refers you to Orbitz or the airline's own website, or another cheap fares site.) One particular cost-saving feature of Orbitz is its ability to find Multiple Carrier rates. Many times using two different (and sometime allied or even competing airlines) turns out to be the cheapest fare. Strange.. because normally two one-way fares are quite a bit more expensive than round-trip tickets. But Orbitz can find one-way fares from separate airlines and pair them up cheaper than what the single (major) airline offers. Also, you may be able to find a cheap fare to Dublin, London (or other UK ciites), Frankfurt, Brussels, Zurich and then get a low-fare European airline ticket for the remainder.

You'll need to find which discount airlines fly from your connecting (entry port) and your destination so see a list at:

http://wikitravel.org/en/Discount_airlines_in_Europe
http://www.discountairfares.com/lcostair.htm
http://www.whichbudget.com/

Another place that's worth a look is Yahoo Travel (actually operated by Travelocity). You'll sometimes find similar flight fares that rival Orbitz, but please know that mainly Yahoo (as do Expedia, Travelocity and the other major travel sites only give you what the airline itself is offering PLUS you'll pay at least a $5 booking fee and may have to pay for paper tickets to be delivered to you ($20-$40) extra cost.

It's worth knowing that some airlines in Europe are only now changing from paper tickets to electronic tickets - in fact, some airlines may not accept them (easily for boarding) at ALL offices/airports - even when their US partner airline has issued the e-ticket. (Like .. duh! - It happened to me but that's another story).

Yahoo has something called Dream Maps. It will show you several cities from and the cheapest air fares based on being VERY flexible. It's a bit hard to find from the main page (the URL pasted below may not work). Go to travel.yahoo.com and you'll see One-Way, Multi-City, More in the Find It Fast Flight Search box. Click More and there is a link to Dream Maps on the right column. Dream Maps gives you options for lower fares because the dates are fairly restrictive for the lowest fares - so if you're flexible about departure dates and returns, you may be able to get a good deal.

Dream Maps link:
http://edit.travel.yahoo.com/config/ytravel_dreammapsource=YD&.intl=us

Yahoo (and several travel sites) offer Fare Chase tools such as regular e-mail updates about low fares to/from your destination, even Messenger notices about low fares, and your own blog or website widgets to search for the lowest airfares (see for example, Yahoo Farechase Tools: Alerts, Search).

If you are going to be travelling several times over the course of 1-2-3 years, it is wise to choose one airline or one airline alliance so that you can start earning flight miles (mileage). Mixing airlines on one trip or changing air carriers every time may save money but in the long run if you fly more than once a year (a long distance flight), you definitely could be collecting enough miles to have a free flight later on. Flying once a year or less would probably not earn you enough to make a difference since most airlines have now reduced the period of validity for saved/accrued miles (it used to be 3 years but several have now changed to 18 months).

One another point that may help -- notice when new routes start. Often the air carrier will put tickets on sale or discount them (especially on certain weekdays) in the first weeks or months after the new route service starts. For example, United will start a new Denver - London route. So look to see if there might be a sale campaign that coincides with your travel plans. Major and discount airlines usually don't offer these special deals over the normal Internet travel websites, such as cheaptickets, orbitz, yahoo. etc. So you have to visit the airlines' websites.

I know this was more info than you wanted to get, but other people may use it. Others may also have better tips.

Gay Paradise at east end of the Mediiterranean Sea: Gran Canaria (near Spain and Morocco)

Compared to the northern climates (esp US, Canada, Northern Europe) in February, even Portugal's winter will probably seem warm - although the ocean is still too cold for most people. Culturally and for sight-seeing, Portugal and Morocco will be your best bet. That being said, I'm a sucker (literally too) for the great sand dunes at Maspalomas on the southern end of the island of Gran Canaria (I've visited it the last 3 years in March - temps daytime from 18-24 degree celsius - generally toward the higher end) but clouds and rain (or Saharan winds bring yellow sand) are not completely uncommon. For a gay holiday, it's a fun place - although the men seem to be ranging toward the middle-age and older bracket. Younger guys (teens-20-30s) are abundant enough but they're usually travelling in groups and as couples so it's harder to 'meat'. I recommend staying in Playa del Ingles - since it's got everything and is closer to the Yumbo (main shopping center that also has most of the gay clubs, including several sex clubs/backroom bars.)

You have to plan a bit to get the right transportation routing to be able to visit all three places affordably and on a set schedule. There are not really many flights from Morocco to the Canary Islands . Since there are Spanish territory, you'll find more flights and better fares from Spain (or even London (Gatwick) and even Germany. BTW, there are thousands of older Northern European seniors who descend on Gran Canaria en masse - it's a bit like Florida in the winter. They come of the sun and cheap food - menus are in 7-8 languages (mostly North European).

Don't count out Spain as a connecting point between all your 3 destinations. Spanair (a Star Alliance member) has lots of flights to all 3 places and you can sometimes get good discounts - although they are more than just this airline serving them.

Seville - not far from the Spain-Portual border is a great sightseeing town and it's warmer there than Madrid or Lisbon. Also there are flights to Gran Canaria from Seville. You can also reach Morocco easily from Seville. Sample itinerary: Start at Lisbon (you can also end up there by doing the following in reverse)- It's lovely place for several grand days of sightseeing (city views, palaces, art and history, great dining), If you have time, try to go north to Fatima for a 'religion' touristic experience, which was the site of the mystic appearance of the Virgin Mary to 3 teenagers that reoccurred every year since 1923?). Sunday morning is the best time to visit Fatima - since that's when all the pilgrims / sufferers come to receive healing (walking on the knees) to mass.

Then travel south stopping perhaps at Evora or along the coast west of Lisbon, then go along the south coast (the Algarve) by train / bus to Spain (Seville). There are nice seaside resorts along the way (best in summer of course), or stop at the far west, Capo de St. Vincente. This is where Columbus studied at King Henry the Navigator's school) on the southern/eastern most tip of Europe. I also loved stopping at Tavira (quaint seaside town with a unofficial nude beach (probably still too cool for most beachgoers). There are bus and trains to Spain (Cadiz - where Columbus set sail is a nice side trip) - his first land fall was at Gran Canaria (where he always stopped (at least 4 times) to replenish suppliers. If you have time on Gran Canaria, you can visit the Columbus House (where he stayed during these stopovers and see the little museum and the Cathedral nearby).

This is a photo of a horse-drawn buggy for rent in the plaza just outside the Cathedral of Seville.

By the way, Columbus' body is buried at the Cathedral in Seville - which is one of the most outstanding church building in the world (converted once to mosque during the Moorish occupation and then back to a cathedral )

Once you hit Spain and see Seville (worth at least two days), you can fly to Gran Canaria (or try a hydrofoil or passenger ferry from the south of there (near Gibraltar) to Tangiers in Morocco. (check out schedules because there may be seasonal limits). Tangiers give you just a taste of Morocco - hardly the best and even maybe a distaste - because you'll be swamped by self-declared 'tour guides' who just want to make bucks ( a lot - if they can rip you off) to walk with you in tow around town and then end up taking you to a relative's restaurant or carpet or souvenir shop to try to bargain down ridiculously over priced meals or items. Travelling in Morocco alone and without a clear head and definite plans can be a bit daunting - maybe things have changed since I visited there a decade ago.

If you fly into Casablana or another city with hotel reservations and a set timeframe, you'll probably be less likely to get lured into going along with some cute Moroccan young guy who's just flirtatious enough - with a smiling face to beguile you. I took the train from Tangiers to Fez and was fortunate enough to meet a school teacher who ended up inviting me to his home and having a meal with his family.

I've been to GC three times around St. Patrick's Day .. I guess you might have been one of the Irish who was celebrating during one of those times.

There are lots of Irish pubs and the day brought out a parade and dancing in the streets.

That' s interesting about the facelift / renovation. Do you know when construction'will begin and be due for completion? I don't know if I'd enjoy visiting it while that is going on.

P.S. Have you been to any of the other Canary Islands? How's the gay / nudist scene of Tenerife, Lanzarote, etc.?

Nudity is allowed on all the islands but gran Canaria has the busiest gsay Scene. Tenerife is next and the lanzarote and Fuerteventura. If I were you I would take a ferry over one of the other islands for a couple of days to have a look. check out www.fredolsen.es. its in spanish but its easy to work your way around the site as parts of it does come up in english. not sure when work is going to begin. it just said next year sometime. i'm heading over to GC next week, I'll see if i can find out anything about it then and let you know, Keep in touch. this will be my 25th visit.. lol ...I go 2 or 3 times a year...x

I saw your post on the travel forum about Gran Canaria. I'm going and don't know whether to stay at Tucanes Club Beach Boys or Villas Blancas. Any tips on those or other places?

I haven't stayed at either place. For two reasons, I go to GC mainly because of the natural setting and also the dunes - being naked and cruising with dozens (if not hundreds) of men occupies my days - so I'm not spending time lounging around at the pool (probably clothing optional at those two gay hotels). I'm also alone when I travel - not a couple as you might be - so you might have a different 'purpose' for your trip - enjoying each other - so a nicer accommodation be best.

I love the natural settings /diving/ hiking/ but that's available lots of places so GC is about a gay (sex) vacation (at least in large part for me).. so I'm either out enjoying cruising the dunes and clubbing at night and doing the outdoor stuff during the days - I don't spend much time at the hotel.

Therefore, I prefer to stay at a cheaper place (preferably with a kitchenette) and then I can make more trips per year (to other places). Of course, it's easier to make friends at a cozier, gay hotel so that has it's advantages too. BTW, if you decided to look for different hotels, I have had pretty good luck with a UK site called, alpharooms.com

I recommend staying right in Playa del Igles so you can be within walking distance of the gay clubs and the beach and dunes. Otherwise, you'll have to take taxis or buses everywhere. The main airport is just south of Las Palmas (large port city on the north tip of the island), you can either take a taxi to your hotel (about 40 euro), but there is also a city bus (#60) leaving for south (Maspalomas-Playa del Igles) (Be careful there is also the same 60 north so don't get on the one going the wrong direction - I did that! ) for much cheaper 3-4 euro --- although need to know where to get off for your hotel.

When are you going? I've been the last 3 years in March but I'm not sure I will go again next year -- or try another time of year.

Thanks for the info. We are a couple who had been together for 18 years so we are out cruising for sex too. We aren't going until next August but I just booked the flight because you have to book on Delta as soon as the tickets become available to fly for free using miles. We are going to Sitges first. We go there every year and stay at the liberty hotel. We walk to Playa del Muerte every day which combines the cruising, hiking, and nudity into a day long adventure. for the second half of the trip we are going to GC which sounds kind of like Palm Springs on an island. Have you been to http://www.basementstudiosgc.co.uk/?

I guess you could call it that the PS of GC island. Like PS, it's also more popular in the winter than summer - but I don't think GC would have the same high summer temps.

Wow.. I didn't know about the Basement Studios - looks pretty wild - sex in and out of the room 24/7 and the staff will particpate if invited (see FAQ).

There are a couple of sex clubs in the Yumbo Centre (ground floor) - bars with dark, back rooms, harness slings, wall-to-wall rutting men (it was fun!) Since they cater to tourists, there isn't that strict a dress code at the bars (I guess some mirght and you do have to strip and leave all your clothes checked (in a bag) when you get in.

The strict dress (or undress code) at BS would cramp my style too much , but the prices - 2 persons 85-100 euro a night are not TOO bad. Still, I have usually stayed for around 30-40 euro / night, but I explained. You certainly get more action that the typical gay hotel - I just wonder how it is in August? Also did you read the additional posting on the Travel Forum (by hardfuck) - he mentioned some major construction (renovation) due to start next year - he's headed to GC next week and will try to find out how it might affect the Yumbo and other places.

Skinny Dipping - one of the great summer treats
(As posted on Freeballing.com) I did skinny dipping for the first time this summer, and it was awesome... being in the water and at the beach nude. Most everyone else was nude also so it was no big deal.
It may not be a big deal as far as flashing goes, but it's still a great thing to be nude and enjoying the Skinny dipping at San Onofre (see pic at right) -- that's the whole point of skinny dipping. I try to do that all summer long and whenever I can any time. I love getting out to Black's Beach in San Diego, Baker Beach in San Francisco, Russian River at Guerneville (CA) and San Onofre State Beach (just south of Orange County (CA) on I-5 (one hour north of San Diego). I had fun there in Feb-March and met up at Black's Beach with one of my flasher buddies from the Net. (See his photo at left below).surf and sand -

Of course, it's more thrilling to try to get naked (with or without the swimming) at the pool, or jacuzzi, or the beach or anywhere that nudity isn't expected.

I used to teach at a school (K-12) that had a pool. Since I had a key to the locker room (with access to the pool), I would sometimes go late at night and swim naked in the pool. I found out later on that one of male teacher had done the same but got caught and in trouble. Eventually, they beefed up security and put a stop to all late night swimming (changed locks).

Sometimes, it's possible to get naked in a hotel pool or jacuzzi when not many people are around. At other times, I've tried going completely naked from my tent to the campground toilet / shower - at night of course - while camping. Have stripped and gone skinny dipping at many places - public parks, state and national parks - Yosemite has some (cold water freezes your balls!) great places for that. The Big Island (actually part of all the islands of Hawaii) have many beaches where it's possible to skinnydip without offending others. Waipio Valley - out from Honokaa in the northeastern area of the Big Island has a great place where can just see tiny figures bobbing around from their lookout point at the time.
people frequently (spontaneously - not a regular practice and probably frowned on since there are tourists (from the US mainland - Bible-belters) but once you descend the steep road down the valley entrance (on foot - of course), you can cross the fresh water river that flows into the ocean, and go to the northern (deserted) stretch of the beach. I've seen many people get naked there (including me and friends) for skinny dipping. People

Kehena Black Sand Beach (Puna Coast, Big Island)

Of course, my all-time favorite place to skinnydip is Kehena Black Sand's Beach on Hawaii's Puna coast. It's not just about showing your goodies on a nude beach. It's a marvelous place where nature's splendor, the chance to swim with dolphins and see whales, mix with the convivial atmosphere of the local tradition of a hippie holiday romp on the beach - complete with all sorts of naked and semi-clothed characters - all of whom are welcoming, tolerant, and often buzzed.

Summer CMNM experiences

I had some great CMNM (Clothed Male Naked Male) experiences during my month of vacation travel in August 2007. They really aren't ones that would have much graphic or explicit content or anything like that... but they were certainly meaningful because I was able to make some great connections with people. For me, it's not enough just to be naked in front of strangers - that's easy enough to accomplish at a nudist beach, locker room, or clothing optional resort, etc.

I find it increasingly important to me if I can develop some kind of interaction - social - not even sexual with the guys I am nude with. I realize that this probrably says a lot about the nature of my own reasons or motivation for seeking out CMNM situations. I should eventually delve into that - I suppose. For me it not simply whether or not the guy is showing any interest in seeing my nude body or me his. It's much more satisfying when the clothed person and I (or if I'm clothed and he's nude) are engaging in either doing something together or conversing about mutal interests while one of us is nude.

Here is just a quick glimpse at my summer episodes... (as much for my own recall as for your entertainment ):
a) I stayed several weeks on the Big Island (Hawaii) so I had a chance to camp, go to a clothing optional resort, and get nude on a couple of beaches

b) I stayed at a hostel (same one as before) and had a wonderful time getting to know my bunkmates and people from adjoining rooms. There were quite a few opportunities to be naked or be clothed with naked during that 5-day stay. One of the most fun things was 6 of us going skinnydipping at Waikiki Beach after midnight (2 women and one guy remained clothed, 3 guys got naked). I had spent the whole time just dying to see those other two hunks in the nude so it was really cool being accepted in the camaraderie of guys being guys and getting to skinnydip with them in the end.
c) I meet up the next week with oneof the guys who stayed in that same hostel dorm room (he didn't go skinnydipping) but his bunk was just across from mine (both on the top) so I had an uninterrupted view of him sleeping and also he had the same of me - I sleep nude every night of course. I loved watching him put his hand down his pants and play with or 'straighten' his cock (supposedly while asleep). I made sure he got a chance to see me with a woody too several times a night (and at sunrise) - although he never acknowledged noticing. Because we were both returning (from Honolulu) back to the the Big Island, we ended up going together to the Puna area of the Big Island the following week- so I introduced to the delights of the 'naked Aloha' life. It was his first trip to a nude beach and at first he was reluctant - although he's the one who suggested going - but finally he got up the courage to shed all his clothes and even allowed me to take some photos. Later we camped out a Kalani so he got another chance to be naked on the clothing optional pool that evening. Of course, I slept naked next to him in the 2-man tent and I hardly got any sleep at all. The previous day we went to the natural steam vents (like an outdoor sauna made from lava-heated steam) and we got naked. A guy there was 'pretending 'to sleep and sporting a big hard on so that gave me and Koji a chance to talk later about dicks and erections when the other guy got up and left. I got several pics (and he of me) of our short few days together.

d) I stayed in Manhattan at the West Side Y and had quite a few chances to be naked with strangers. Guests can use the pool, gym and lockerrooms just like paid members. On my return trip thru NYC, I stayed at another hostel and also scouted out a few more where I might return on my next trip. I also spent several evenings at the West Side Club.

e) Some nudity at a couple public beaches lead to some sexual encounters -- I met a really nice Russian guy whom I mistook for straight until he keep coming up and trying to get peeks some parts of my anatomy. Eventually, I got more than just a peek at his.
f) One of the times I almost forgot about was really one of the coolest CNMN experiences I had for a long while. I stayed over in Waikiki over 6 days (at the hostel I mentioned earlier). On Sundays, there is a catamaran cruise which is mainly reserved for gay and lesbians departing from Waikiki Beach at 1:00pm - you can get discounted tickets at Angles (gay bar on Kuhio) and the 90-minute ride includes 4 drink tickets. It's advertised as clothing optional - although I'd never seen anybody go naked on this cruise before (it was the 2nd time to take the cruise since they have advertized it as 'nude cruise.' It seems that actualy boat operator and captain aren't really kept informed (at least they plead ignorance). I asked my hostel roommates if they wanted to come along but the macho-man guy from the Netherlands was negative about it, saying he didn't want to go on any gay cruise - but - of course, it seemed he never missed an opportunity to get naked. I am sure all would have had a great time if they had gone. I certainly did.

Previously cruises were very tame, but this time I simply was not going to be denied the chance to get naked in public in front of so many people. As we were boarding, I asked some of the guys if they were going to get naked later on. Nobody seemed eager but there were any flat denials either. So .... when we got further out in the bay about 500 yards from shore, I asked the captain - a local Hawaiian guy, if it OK if I got naked. He said he was told about that before - but I explained that the cruise was advertised that way and that I wouldn't be obscene or do anything to attract attention from other boats. So he consented. I was the only one to get nude and there were a few women and also a group of 5 young Black doctors from Wash D.C. in town for a medical convention. I sat with a very big local guy but he didn't get naked but seemed to enjoy having me do so. The two young ship's mates on board took furtive looks but they were nonchalant about having a naked haole dude on board. Later on we got back closer to shore nearly the end of the cruise, I pulled on my trunks and then we asked about being able to stop for a swim so the captain agreed. It would have been great to have been naked - all of us jumping off of the boat and then remerging up the gangway between the two large rudder fins of the catamaran. It was a great cruise and being naked made it so much more fun.
